This is the historical information page for House Yronwyne of Season Two of The Grand Campaign.

Founding of House Yronwyne

House Yronwyne was founded on July 1, 8201. This came about as the result of a dispute between two halves of the Yronwood family (The Arbor side and the Stoneway side). The Arbor Yronwoods took up arms with King Rodrik "Ironheart" of House Baratheon when Matarys Blackfyre tamed Vhagar and, with many lords of the realm, declared war for his claim on the throne. The Stoneway Yronwoods sided with the rebellion that sought to place Matarys on the Iron Throne of Westeros.Following the war's completion, King Rodrik requested that Lord Yandry Yronwood of The Arbor attend him in a private meeting. Lord Yandry attended the meeting and for his services and sacrifices in the war, granted him writ to found a new great house and to take The Arbor and its titles as their ancestral lands.

Lord Yandry remained in the capital for several days while contemplating what he should do. Six days after King Rodrik gave writ to found a new dynasty, Lord Yandry returned to the king and announced that he and his kin would be known henceforth as members of House Yronwyne. He also requested that the king allow the first official head of the house to be his father, Lord Franklyn whose mother was the last Redwyne to hold The Arbor, and that he also be counted posthumously as a member of House Yronwyne. The king gave his assent.

When asked why he chose Yronwyne, Lord Yandry said, "I cannot ignore that I was once a Yronwood and I can embrace that I am part Redwyne."

House Yronwyne's Diplomatic Status with Other Houses

The following is a short breakdown of House Yronwyne's diplomatic status with some of the other houses of Westeros.

House Lannister

Relations between Houses Yronwyne and Lannister began as a tentative acknowledged of the power and wealth of one another. Slowly over time, that acknowledgement grew into respect and then eventually an open alliance. Damon Lannister, who became King of the Rock through an alliance between House Yronwyne of the Reach and House Lannister of the Westerlands, openly negotiated with Sarya Yronwyne for a coalition to force King Orys Baratheon to recognize the displeasure he'd caused the south of Westeros. Rather than war with the south, Orys Baratheon dissolved the Kingdom of Westeros, effectively freeing all Lords or Ladies Paramount to reform their respective realms.

The two immediate powers of this new world order were the Kingdom of The Rock and the Kingdom of the Reach. Queen Sarya Yronwyne respects King Damon Lannister and has even offered her youngest sister as a betrothal to King Damon's heir. In exchange, King Damon Lannister offered his youngest brother to Queen Sarya Yronwyne's heiress in a matrilineal marriage. The two marriages would mark the first time that Houses Yronwyne and Lannister engaged in an open and officially recognized alliance.

House Baratheon

House Yronwyne owes its existence to King Rodrick of House Baratheon. As a result, House Yronwyne is loyal to the Baratheon who is best suited to lead. Lord Lewyn of House Yronwyne did not support Torrhen of House Baratheon as the King of Westeros; instead he has thrown his support behind Prince Aegor. Following the Baratheon Succession Crisis, Lord Lewyn and King Torrhen repaired the relationship between Houses Yronwyne and Baratheon. This was made all the easier when King Torrhen overruled the dispensed punishments of the former Hand of the King, Lord Stark, and instead issued new sets of punishments. This worked to great effect to convince Lord Lewyn that the king was his own man and not a puppet of House Stark. Lord Lewyn also served as the Master of Whispers for the Iron Throne of Westeros until his death.

Lord Alleras Yronwyne and King Torrhen Baratheon have an amicable relationship and often share meals in the King's private quarters. The relationship between Houses Yronwyne and Baratheon is gaining strength, to the dismay of some of House Yronwyne's silent enemies.

Queen Sarya Yronwyne views House Baratheon with little more than disdain. While relations are officially amicable between the two houses, King Orys Baratheon moved the capital from The Twins, already fairly far north, to Winterfell, a place as north as one could possibly go. As a result of this move, the rulers of the south grew disenfranchised with the crown and presented an ultimatum for independence. Rather than fight a long, bloody civil war, King Orys dissolved the Kingdom of Westeros.

House Chester

When House Chester was ruled by Lord Garlan, relations between House Chester and House Yronwyne were strong and steady. Lord Garlan was a solid and capable leader and administrator of a newly reunited Reach. He did much to strengthen the Reach and improve relations with many of the Reach's noble houses. Lord Garlan even went so far as to name Lord Yandry Yronwyne his Regent.

However, when Lord Garlan died and was succeeded by his son, Lord Colin, relations between Houses Chester and Yronwyne started to worsen. Lord Colin was cruel to his vassls and was oftentimes accused of sloth. Lord Colin stuttered and got angry when someone spoke for him, to prevent him from suffering the stutter when unnecessary. Despite the waning relationship between the two houses, Lord Colin did not change his Regent. Lord Colin died of bad health after only ruling for 12 years and his son, Lord Cliffyrd, ascended to his titles at only 6 years old.

Fearing that Lord Cliffyrd would be just as bad as his father had, several of the Lords and Ladies of The Reach approached Lord Regent Yandry and expressed their concern. After some discussion, the consensus of the group was that Lord Yandry should assume control of The Reach. A coalition, including some Lords and Ladies from outside of The Reach, declared war for Yandry's new claim on The Reach. The war was short lived, however, when the Hand of the King, Lord Edrick of House Stark, demanded that Lord Yandry and his coalition stand down from their war and keep the King's Peace or face being branded a traitor to the realm. Lord Yandry declared a White Peace with Lord Cliffyrd.

With Lord Yandry's death and his grandson, Lord Lweyn, assuming the titles of House Yronwyne, the relations between House Yronwyne and House Chester have not declined or improved, for the moment.

House Chester stands destitute compared to their former titles and lands. With their joining of Maric Baratheon's claim for the Iron Throne of Westeros, King Torrhen of House Baratheon stripped all of their titles but the Lordship of Greenfield from the House Chester. Relations between House Yronwyne and House Chester are currently at a standstill under Lord Alleras Yronwyne's rule.

House Roxton

The Houses Yronwyne and Roxton have a healthy and strong relationship. The Lady Irya Roxton, wife of Lord Yandry and grandmother of Lord Lewyn, was the first person to bring both houses closer together. She did so successfully. During and immediately after the Baratheon Succession War, Houses Yronwyne and Roxton still stand as strong allies.

House Martell

House Yronwyne is not currently in a healthy relationship with House Martell. The primary reason for the negative relationships between the two houses involve the initial support Dorne showed for Prince Aegor Baratheon, behind whom Lord Lewyn Yronwyne and Lord Normund IV Roxton threw their support in exchange for assurances they would both me escalated to Lords Paramount of a divided Reach. Shortly after treaties of support were signed and a Declaration of War issues to the crown, Princess Lia of Dorne transferred her support to Prince Maric Baratheon. With Prince Maric already being supported by Lord Cliffyrd of House Chester, the Lord Paramount of the Reach, Lords Yronwyne and Roxton were informed their support would be rewarded in other ways.

Lord Lewyn was dissatisfied with how the alliance was handled and it will, most likely, take some time for the sour taste to leave his mouth.

Heads and other Notable Members of House Yronwyne

The following consists of a brief information for those who have been the Head (Title Holder) of House Yronwyne, or are otherwise notable for their actions or contributions.

Lord Franklyn Yronwyne

Born October 16, 8139 and died comatose in bed on May 28, 8193 at the age of 54. He was the first Yronwyne (posthumously) to inherit the High Lordship of The Arbor and subsequently ruled for nearly 33 years. His mother, Lady Alla Redwyne, was the last Redwyne to rule over The Arbor. He was the second son of Lord Anders Yronwood, the High Lord of Stoneway. He married twice. His first wife was the Lady Masha Butterwell of Esgaroth who died at just 15 of pneumonia and having no children with Lord Franklyn. His second wife was the Lady Jynessa Yronwood, a distant cousin of Lord Franklyn. Lady Jynessa bore five children with Lord Franklyn.

Lord Yandry "Old Reliable" Yronwyne

Lord Yandry "Old Reliable" Yronwyne contemplating whether or not he actually wanted to be a Lord Paramount.

Born on December 5, 8161 and died after a period of illness on December 30, 8227 at the age of 66. He is the actual founder of House Yronwyne after a dispute between him and the High Lord of Stoneway, a Yronwood, caused a deep rift between the two halves of the family. He inherited the High Lordship of The Arbor after his father's death on May 28, 8193. His rule would see the Kingdom of Westeros enter a turbulent war for the Iron Throne when Matarys Blackfyre would press for it. Lord Yandry sided with King Rodrik Baratheon, rather than with the rebel coalition. As a result of his steadfast and constant support throughout the war, King Rodrik awarded Lord Yandry a sum of 4,000 gold.

Lord Yandry commanded the center during the final battle of the war, commonly referred to as the Blackfyre Rebellion, in Catswold which is part of the High Lordship of Oceanroad. He engaged a superior foe numbering nearly 60,000 troops with his army of just over 7,000 troops with the only intention being to delay the rebels long enough for allied reinforcements to arrive. Nearly a three days after Lord Yandry's troops engaged and harassed the rebel forces, delaying their departure by a great deal, allied forces arrived and immediately engaged the enemies. The Lords that arrived with the reinforcements deferred command of the engagement to Lord Yandry. The battle was over quickly once the troops arrived and ended the rebellion.

After the war ended, Lord Yandry attended an audience with King Rodrik. During this audience, King Rodrik would grant Lord Yandry writ to found his own house out of respect and admiration for what the Lord of The Arbor had done and lost during the war. King Rodrik would also joke at the victory feast that the war would likely have lasted longer if Lord Yandry "Old Reliable" hadn't sacrificed his troops to delay the rebels. The nickname would stick and Lord Yandry would be known popularly as "Old Reliable", indicating his steadfast loyalty to King Rodrik. Lord Yandry's efforts during the war would also see the High Lordship of The Westmarch granted to the Yronwyne family on June 11, 8201 by Lord Paramount Garlan of the Southern Reach.

The next 22 years would see little of note happen that involved The Arbor or its masters. On July 16, 8224, a faction of The Reach declared war against Lord Cliffyrd of House Chester to replace the 6 year old Lord Paramount with the Lord Regent, Yandry. The war was short lived, however, when the Hand of the King, Lord Edrick Stark, demanded that Lord Yandry and his allies stand down and declare a White Peace, or be branded as traitors to the realm. Lord Yandry did as Lord Edrick commanded. Shortly after this war, Lord Yandry became ill. The illness would come and go for the next three years until his death.

Lord Dagos Yronwyne

Born on October 19, 8180 and died during personal combat with Steffon Yew on May 2, 8205 at the age of 25. Lord Dagos Yronwyne was the son of Lord Yandry "Old Reliable. He was expected to bring House Yronwyne even more honor, glory and notoriety than his father had. This was cut short, however, when Lord Dagos made an offhanded remark about Steffon Yew's betrothed while he was drinking Arbor Gold at a wedding feast in the Southern Reach. Dagos' death did not come before he fathered a son, Lewyn.

"Those fools. Wasting troops on sieges when they should have been destroying the armies within range. We gave the the crown time to mobilize its troops into an area near Tumbler's Falls in Atranta." - Lord Lewyn Yronwyne's answer when asked why Maric's forces lost the war.

Lord Lewyn Yronwyne

Born on October 23, 8199 and died of the Bloody Flux on March 21, 8256 at the age of 57. He inherited the High Lordship of The Arbor and the High Lordship of The Westmarch from his grandfather, Lord Yandry. Little Lewyn lost his father at 6 years old, and those around him would say that it most definitely affected him. His tutors would explain to Lord Yandry, Lewyn's grandfather, that teaching the boy was near impossible. As a result, Lord Yandry started to treat Lewyn more like a son, than as a grandson. At a young age, everyone began noticing Lewyn's natural looks; he would be described as extremely attractive by many men and women; both married and unmarried. Lewyn has no great skill in any real area, however, he is, at best, an average military commander. He is also a somewhat capable administrator and has brought The Arbor a decent increase in business through various marketing programs he has engaged his agents in in foreign ports. He would engage Magister Qarro Myrakis of Pentos in a contracted Pentoshi trade post. This move saw a small, but noticeable, increase in revenues for House Yronwyne almost immediately. After a few years, though, the income increased to a more noticeable amount.

Following the conclusion of the Baratheon Succession War, in which Lord Lewyn sided with first Aegor and then Maric Baratheon, Lord Lewyn was called to the new capital of Westeros, The Twins, for the judgment of the crown. While issuing the punishments to the various Lords and Ladies who supported the rebellion, King Torrhen--who was no longer under a regency--said the following to Lord Lewyn as he was kneeling in front of the throne, "In recognition of your grandfather, Lord Yandry "Old Reliable" and his service to my father in times of great need, I am fining you 500 Gold Dragons and transferring vassalage of your House and Lands to fall directly under the crown." The the king leaned forward and in a voice low enough for only Lewyn to hear, added, "Such remembrance will not save your house from such an action again." Then, loud enough for most of the court to hear, Lewyn nodded and replied, "Your justice is both kind and merciful, Your Grace. I will remember it."

Within a year of the judgments being dispensed, the realm fell to a level of stability it hadn't seen in a while. King Torrhen approached Lord Lewyn, who was decently connected throughout Westeros, and informed him of his appointment to the Small Council as the Master of Whispers. Some years later, during a routine visit to The Arbor to check on his family's holdings, Lord Lewyn contracted the Bloody Flux, he died not long after. He ruled for 29 years.

Lord Alleras "the Honorable" Yronwyne

Lord Hand Alleras "the Honorable" Yronwyne, Hand of the King

Born on September 15, 8220 and died a natural death on December 6, 8291 at the age of 71. The oldest son born to Lord Lewyn Yronwyne quickly became known to many people as a patient and charitable man. After assuming the mantle of High Lord of The Arbor and High Lord of The Westmarch, he was also known as a honorable and kind man. When Lord Lewyn died of the Bloody Flux, a trial had been in progress to hear the evidence against Lord Rycherd Chester, for conspiring with House Blackfyre of New Valyria against the Iron Throne of Westeros. As the Master of Whispers for King Torrhen, Lord Lewyn collected the evidence and submitted it to the judges to decide Lord Rycherd's fate. With his father's death, King Torrhen called upon the new head of House Yronwyne, Lord Alleras, to assume his father's role as judge. Lord Alleras was intimately familiar with all of the proceedings as he helped his father review and confirm its authenticity, so as not to put Lord Rycherd on trial for something he didn't actually do.

When the judges were called for their verdicts, Lady Lyanna Stark did not believe the evidence was proof enough of Lord Rycherd's treason. While Lords Alleras Yronwyne and Lord Gaston Tully believed the evidence sufficient to warrant punishment. When called upon for a suitable punishment, Lord Alleras said he believed that Lord Rycherd should be banished to the Wall and that his heir should assumed all the titles and holdings of House Chester. Many were openly surprised by this ruling, citing that it would have been a perfect opportunity for Lord Alleras to advance his house to a Lordship Paramount. After that, he commonly became known as Lord Alleras "the Honorable" Yronwyne.

For the 100th Anniversary of House Yronwyne's rule of The Arbor, Lord Alleras threw grand fairs and festivals for the common folk and for the highborn Lords and Ladies, feasts and grand balls were held. The entire event was going extremely well, until family tragedy occurred. Lord Alleras' sister, Myria Yronwyne, died contracted the Deadly Plague during an overseas trip to Essos with her husband and died shortly after returning to The Arbor. Lord Alleras took his sister's death rather roughly as he and his sister were born as twins. They grew up together and were even educated together. Lady Myria's death has left her son, Arthur Yronwyne as the Master of Stoncrab Cay.

Lord Alleras has 6 children, 5 of which are male and one that is female. Many have applauded his and his wife's, Lady Annet Wythers, fertility and believe that it will result in a stronger and larger House Yronwyne than had been the previous course. Every Lord of the House had children, but none quite so prodigious as Lord Alleras and Lady Annet.

Lord Alleras was named Hand of the King and during his tenure he had to exercise the might of his office when several Lords Paramount decided to participate in an utterly minor engagement between two High Lords in the Reach. All of the Lords Paramount eventually acquiesced to Lord Alleras' order to stand down and allow the High Lords to fight the battle themselves. He served as Hand of the King for 35 years. When his vision failed him near his 70th birthday, Lord Alleras' honorable nature made him resign his position. Lord Urlon Darklyn of Runestone succeeded Lord Alleras Yronwyne as Hand of the King. Just 2 years after his resignation as Hand of the King, Lord Alleras "the Honorable" Yronwyne died a natural death.

Lord Torrhen Yronwyne

Born on August 25, 8284 and is suspected dead of murder-related kidnapping on October 20, 8292 at the age of 8. He was the youngest, and sixth, son of Lord Alleras I Yronwyne and Princess Alyx Baratheon, and the grandson of King Torrhen Baratheon. He was kidnapped while playing outside, all but one of his guards were found with their necks cut from ear to ear. After the bodies were found and the young Lord declared missin, guardsman Ezekiel of Ryamsport was determined to be the kidnapper. He demanded a ransom of gold for Lord Torrhen's safe return, but did not wait long enough to receive a response or the gold. Ezekiel of Ryamsport sent Lord Torrhens clothes to his mother, Princess Alyx, with a note that explained the decision took too long. With Lord Torrhen's death, succession remained Agnatic-Cognatic Ultimogeniture and Lord Alleras II Yronwyne succeed as High Lord of The Arbor and The Westmarch.

Lord Alleras II Yronwyne

Born on January 6, 8252 and died of the Dreaded Plague on December 13, 8300 at the age of 48. He inherited the titles of House Yronwyne under Ultimogeniture Succession as the fifth son of Lord Alleras "the Honorable" Yronwyne and ruled for just over 8 years before his death. He is remembered as an ambitious man who shied away from combat himself. He was charitable and just, as was exhibited when he heard issues brought before him by his vassals and courtiers. His wife, Lady Mya Barbleton--the ruler of Saltpans--mothered five of his six children, including the heir to House Yronwyne's titles, Lord Abelar Yronwyne.

While Lord Alleras II did not reign long enough to be know for anything as grand as honor, as his father did, he was well enough known and regarded that many Lords and Ladies attended his funeral, including the King of Westeros, Orys Baratheon. Lord Alleras II was succeeded by his son, Lord Abelar Yronwyne.

Lord Paramount Abelar Yronwyne

Born on November 12, 8274 and died a natural death on April 5, 8322 at the age of 48. He assumed the titles and honors of House Yronwyne just after turning 26 years old. He ruled competently, continuing the Yronwyne family practice of raising stewards to oversee the financial needs of The Arbor. While not amazing at this task, he is quite competent. Described by many as an ambitious man who avoided fights at all costs.

Lord Abelar Yronwyne was granted all lands and titles held by the members of House Osgrey who were previously the Lords and Ladies Paramount of the Reach by King Orys Baratheon. House Osgrey's main family line went extinct as a result of a blood feud with House Martell and when normal succession meant that House Tully would inherit the titles of House Osgrey, this resulted in King Orys Baratheon granting all of those titles to House Yronwyne on July 27, 8302, only 19 and a half months after assuming the titles of House Yronwyne.

Lord Paramount Abelar Yronwyne immediately set about the starting steps of reorganizing the Reach's Lords and Ladies and correcting the mismanagement that had begun to take root under the more lax rulership of House Osgrey. Lord Paramount Abelar Yronwyne successfully reorganized the Reach during his rulership. He granted new rights to various Lords and Ladies under his banner. He increased the general economic and military standing of the Reach to the prominent Lordship Paramount of the Kingdom of Westeros. He was approached by Lord Damon III of House Lannister to join a coalition to return lands legally belonging to certain Lords Paramount to them, from Lord Tully of the Riverlands. Lord Abelar initially declined to join the coalition, citing that Lord Damon had nothing to sate his ambition. His rule as a Lord Paramount lasted for just under 20 years before he died a natural death.

Queen Sarya "the Able" Yronwyne

Born on June 10, 8295 and died after a period of illness on January 9, 8340 at the age of 45. Sarya Yronwyne inherited the titles of House Yronwyne due to her having no brothers, as well as her being the oldest daughter of Lord Abelar Yronwyne. She ruled the Reach well, surpassing even her father in her stewardship abilities. She was matrilineally married to Edwyle Dustin, to ensure her children could inherit as members of House Yronwyne. She was regarded as a brave and temperate woman before assuming the titles of her father. After assuming those titles, though, she became much more well known for her diligence in all things, as well as her ambitious nature.

The then Lady Paramount of the Reach was approached by Lord Damon III of House Lannister almost immediately following her father's funeral. Soon after her father's death, King Orys "the Bastard" Baratheon relocated the capital of Westeros to Winterfell, alienating the Lords and Ladies in the South. Lord Damon III of House Lannister and his coalition approached Lady Sarya and had a new offer for her assistance, a crown.

Sarya Yronwyne accepted this offer, but before the full brunt of demands could be sent to Lord Tully of the Riverlands and King Orys Baratheon, the latter issued a decree that dissolved the Kingdom of Westeros, essentially freeing all Lords or Ladies Paramount from his control, unless they wished to be under is rule, to form their own kingdoms. Sarya Yronwyne met with her councillors and vassal Lords and Ladies and after that meeting, she was declared the Queen of the Reach.

Very soon after the dissolution of the Kingdom of Westeros, Prince Orys "the Knight" Baratheon began boasting and making claims that he would reunite the Seven Kingdoms back into Westeros. Many of the Southron Houses who know ruled as Kings or Queens became irritated. Orys "the Knight" Baratheon died under suspicious circumstances on August 15, 8326. King Damon Lannister sent his regards to King Orys Baratheon soon after his son was found dead. These regards, along with grief, led King Orys "the Bastard" Baratheon to declare a Blood War on the South of Westeros. At the war's conclusion, King Orys would take no land from the South, but would call for Blood for Blood and take the oldest son of the Queen of the Reach, the King of The Rock, and Lady Paramount Melicent of the Vale.

The three rulers conceded to King Orys' demands when faced with the threat of dragon fire spread throughout their realms. Queen Sarya was not happy with the terms of surrender, but understood that Orys Baratheon's grief and anger must be sated, lest further bloodshed visit the Reach. She delivered her son to Orys outside of The Arbor, he was dressed as a Prince should be dressed and died as brave as any three-year-old could die. This single action would cause Sarya Yronwyne, the mother, to become depressed. As the Queen of the Reach, Sarya Yronwyne showed no outward signs of having been affected, but those closest to her knew better. The Hand of the Queen, Lord Hobert Roxton of the Oceanroad, would ask her of her well-being regularly, for their families had grown so close in diplomatic relation many had begun calling House Yronwyne and House Roxton two branches of the same tree.

When she was first informed of this anecdotal piece of gossip, Queen Sarya informed the Court that she was honored to have her house considered as such with House Roxton. When it was heard that Queen Sarya Yronwyne also granted Lord Hand Hobert a Royal Decree issuing him permission to claim the Northmarch for his family, a raucous group of Lords and Ladies - both high and low - descended upon the Throne of Vines to question this action. She explained the treachery of House Osgrey, of both the Northmarch and Cockleswhent, and further added that any House that showed House Yronwyne the loyalty, friendship, and dedication that House Roxton had shown since House Yronwyne was formed would also be afforded the same favor of the Crown. As she explained the reasons for the decision, a decision that was the result of countless hours of discussions among her Small Council, members of House Osgrey and their closest confidantes began departing, anger clearly on their faces.

The last few years of Queen Sarya Yronwyne's reign would see the Night's King begin a series of invasions of the Kingdoms of Westeros. She would call a council of her vassals and military commanders to discuss and prepare for the eventuality of mustering the Reach's forces to combat the White Walkers. She rarely attended these meetings and then a lookout at the Lighthouse in the bay, called a warning that several warships were approaching, flying the colors of King Damon, of House Lannister, of The Rock. She met with King Lannister, along with Lord Hand Andrew Roxton, and they discussed the Night's King and his forces, and the seemingly unrelenting flow of those forces with their extremely aged Ice Dragon.

King Damon Lannister would leave The Arbor after coming to an agreement with his longtime ally, Queen Sarya Yronwyne. Their forces would muster together when the forces of Winter crossed into the Riverlands. The primary goal would be to keep those forces from going further south, to prevent large-scale destruction and death from reaching the Reach or The Rock. Sarya Yronwyne became ill shortly after this meeting. She had never truly recovered from the death of her son, Yandry, at the hands of Orys Baratheon and her depression was common knowledge among the members of the court. This depression, coupled with her scarcely existent appetite and general lack of care for herself, led her to become ill. She died soon after at the age of 45 and was succeeded by her daughter Marianne Yronwyne.

Queen Marianne Yronwyne

Born on June 26, 8312 and died of pneumonia on April 26, 8346 at the age of 34. She inherited the titles of House Yronwyne after her mother's death. Her rule was harmed by her poor diplomatic skills from the onset. That, coupled with her arbitrary nature, made many vassals dislike her almost immediately. Almost immediately upon her ascension to the throne of the Reach, Marianne Yronwyne would be visited by a Red Priest sent by Storm King Swygert to give her the protection of the Red God. This would cause such an uproar, but the next event happened in such quick succession that the High Lords and High Ladies of the Reach could not act. Queen Marianne Yronwyne would fight her own husband, King Consort Lucas Osgrey, for the throne of the Reach. He would leave court, under the guise of visiting family, and then sent a raven to declare his intent to take the throne of the Reach. He attacked with just under 50,000 troops of his own and the forces of several High Lords and Ladies of the Reach. Marianne Yronwyne defeated her husband and had him executed.

This act shocked and appalled her vassals who demanded that she abdicate the throne in favor of her oldest son, Alleras. She agreed, reluctantly, and stepped down. She would die of pneumonia four short years later.

King Alleras Yronwyne

Born on April 1, 8337 and is the current hold of the titles of House Yronwyne.

Notable Wars or Engagements in which House Yronwyne Participated

The following is a catalog, albeit condensed as much as possible, in which the notable wars or engagements that House Yronwyne participated in directly or indirectly.

The Baratheon Succession War

During the succession crisis Lord Lewyn threw his support behin Prince Aegor Baratheon, still serving as a loyal man to House Baratheon, but not completely comfortable with a Stark ruling the Kingdom of Westeros, in all but name, for 16 years until King Torrhen came of an age to rule in his own right. Should Prince Aegor win, Lewyn Yronwyne would be made the Lord Paramount of a Southern Reach with much more extensive lands than it had previously had. The Northern Reach would go to Lord Normund IV Roxton. Shortly after the war for Prince Aegor Baratheon's claim was started, the Princes Aegor and Maric discussed their wars. Maric convinced Aegor to join with him and as a result, Aegor's promises to Houses Yronwyne and Roxton would not be honored. Lewyn was angered as the current Lord Paramount of the Reach, Lord Cliffyrd of House Chester, was also supporting Prince Maric's claim on the Iron Throne of Westeros.

When the Princes Baratheon, Princess Lia Martell of Dorne, Lord Paramount Selwyn III Tarth of the Stormlands, Lord Paramount Jaime "Silverhair" Lannister of the Westerlands, Lord Paramount Cliffyrd Chester of the Reach, Lord Lewyn of The Arbor and Lord Normund IV "the Chaste" Roxton of the Oceanroad all met for a war council, Lord Lewyn spoke for a straightforward campaign. Assault the armies of the crown to prevent them from consolidating their forces. The Princes Baratheon and Princess Lia of Dorne all spoke against such a plan of action and instead opted for prolonged sieges of the holdings of Lord Damon Lannister of the Golden Tooth--who had become quite powerful in the Westerlands.

With it clear that Lewyn Yronwyne was dissatisfied with the change in alliance forced upon him and the plans for how the war would be fought, he was sent to siege whatever lands his troops could in the Isles of Orys, the Crownlands. Lewyn did this and successfully sieged down Sealskin Point while the war was waged on the main land. The forces supporting Prince Maric Baratheon sieged many holdings down, but did not win the war. Rebel forces never engaged the crown forces in direct combat, until the ultimate battle of the war. At the final battle of the war, the Battle of Tunbler's Falls in Atranta, rebel forces engaged crown forces and lost. The crown sent nearly 180,000 men to fight the battle of Tumbler's Falls, while the rebel forces sent nearly 185,000 men; Lewyn's 11,000 men never participated in the final battle; though he lost several thousand to sieges and skirmishes on the Isles of Orys. The crown had the advantage of distance from their armies to Tumbler's Falls, while the rebels sent their troops in waves. Newer troops met worn and ragged troops and were immediately assaulted by both the crown's forces and the poor morale of the other rebels.

When the battle and its subsequent skirmishes were over and the dead tallied, the crown lost nearly 90,000 men while the rebel forces were decimated, losing nearly 140,000 men. The rebels suffered a resounding defeat and submitted themselves for the judgment of the crown.

¹ - Succession was changed to Agnatic-Cognatic Ultimogeniture from Agnatic-Cognatic Primogeniture due to the age of Lord Alleras Yronwyne's oldest sons. There was concern that there would be stability issues if Lord Alleras' oldest sons died shortly after ascending to the titles. As a result, Lord Torrhen Yronwyne inherits as the sixth son of Lord Alleras "the Honorable" Yronwyne.

² - Lord Torrhen Yronwyne is presumed murdered but no definitive proof has ever been found.

³ - Lord Alleras II Yronwyne inherits under Agnatic-Cognatic Ultimogeniture as the fifth son of Lord Alleras "the Honorable" Yronwyne.

⁴ - The Lordship of Highgarden was revoked from Lord Barristan Buckler, the High Lord of Cockleswhent at the time. Lord Barristan refused Lord Paramount Abelar Yronwyne's request to transfer stewardship of Highgarden from himself to Lord Abelar Yronwyne. Lord Barristan Buckler went into open revolt, he subsequently lost and was stripped of his High Lordship, while allowed to retain Lordship of Ashford.

⁵ - Due to the overabundance of High Lordships under direct control of House Yronwyne, Lord Abelar Yronwyne awarded his title of the High Lordship of the Westmarch to Lord Samwell of House Chester, ruler of Fawn Crag, after just over 102 years as a title of House Yronwyne.

⁶ - Due to no substantial claims of any of the direct vassals of the High Lordship of Highgarden, and the constant bickering of those same vassals, Lord Abelar Yronwyne dissolved the High Lordship of Highgarden. He made sure to note in the necessary dissolution documents that the recreation of the High Lordship of Highgarden would be possible if it was ever required.

⁷ - The Kingdom of the Reach was reformed on February 19, 8326, 20 days after King Orys "the Bastard" of House Baratheon dissolved the Kingdom of Westeros, instead taking the title King in the North and leaving the former vassals of the Iron Throne in the South to their own devices.

⁸ - The Lordship Paramount of the Reach ceased to exist when the Kingdom of Westeros was disolved by Orys Baratheon, as such, Queen Sarya Yronwyne converted her Lordship Paramountcy to a Kingdom on February 19, 8326.

⁹ & ¹⁰ - Marianne Yronwyne was deposed by a council of her vassals. This was the result of two primary things: 1. She was visited by a Red Priest sent by Storm King Swygert to bless and protect her, as a result she converted to the Lord of Light. 2. Her husband, King Consort Lucas Osgrey, left her court and informed her of his decision to fight for his claim on her Kingdom. Her forces won, and she subsequently had her husband executed. These two decisions greatly influenced her vassals into forcing her to step aside in favor of her son, Alleras.
